An article about a high-risk family
The more attention you pay to your neighborhood, the more children may be saved.
Little Jane and her family (father, mother and younger brother) used to live in a good life. However, her father’s business was much affected by conomic crisis recently. They owned a lot to the financial institutes and individuals. Therefore, their income was very limited. Sometimes, they even had no money for food. Her father became so emotional and easy to lose his temper. Eventually her father was getting alcoholic and always had quarrels with her mother. Little Jane and her brother were victims of his bad temper, too. Because of tremendous economic pressure and abusive language from her father, her mother intended to commit suicide with her children.
Fortunately, her father got a stable job through TFCF’s assistance and their economy was experiencing an upturn. With help and guidance from the consultant, her father started to take account of a mother’s sufferings from the toils. Little Jane and her younger brother finally could go back to their normal lives. Although they may not be rich, they can live happily in a safe and good environment.
In recent years, many people have lost their jobs due to worldwide economic recession. Numerous families are affected and step in to life crisis. The quality of child care is under serious threat. When family faces economic downturn or its members involve in drug abuse, alcoholism, divorce and other critical incidents, the parents will turn into violence easily especially to their children because of the huge pressure. The children will be neglected. Those factors will influence on their children’s academic achievements and their characters.
When the media repeatedly report the news regarding child abuses and depressed parents commit suicide with their children. The social workers of TFCF always think distressingly:
If neighbors can notice earlier to the crying from a child abused.
If the head of a village pays more attention to everyone and calls TFCF voluntarily.
If teachers are able to notice earlier the change of a child’s character and unknown scars on his or her body.
We should pay more attention to children next to you. Please just inform the Bureau of Social Affairs or TFCF if you find something unusual. TFCF will provide special care, consultation and kinds of practical supports to these families. As long as we are able to notice something unusual happening to children, we can save these innocent children from tragedy.

Awareness of the potential high-risk families
1. Family conflicts: Conflicts among family members, such as the husband and wife, parents and child, mother-in-law and daughter-in-law or conflict among relatives in the same house. The negative feelings from family conflict will influence the way how parents take care of children. It may put children in the position of pressure and panic.
2. Unexpected crises: the parents suddenly plunge into the unemployment situation, severe illness, heavy debt burden, imprisonment, or unmarried parents, lacking of parenting and household skills are the reasons that make them no time and to care their children. It will seriously affect the child’s physical and mental developments.
3.Neglect: children who are dirty all day, often late for class or skip their classes, stay at home alone and even go wandering are classified as high-risk families.
